world, disappearing, water

As you live your life, wrapped up in the everlasting chase for something better, you feel that you have a good understanding of how the world works.

The individual philosophies may vary, but we all think we know how to live.

Well, what happens when that is not the case anymore?

What happens when the world stopped making sense to you?

When Did The World Stop Making Sense To You?

“The real purpose of this world is to use it to correct your unbelief.” –  (ACIM, T-1.VI.4:1)

Do you recall the exact moment when the world stopped making sense to you?

I sort of do, but not exactly.

It all started with everything crumbling down.

My entire life as I knew it started to dismantle itself.

At first, I reacted with panic, as most people probably would.

But then, I paused for a second and thought to myself: wait a minute, there must be something bigger at play here. Why would everything just be happening at the same time?

I’m not going to lie, not allowing myself to go into panic mode was a minute-by-minute struggle but during the brief moments when I allowed clarity in my mind, I did feel/see the bigger picture. Something big was happening in my life.

A Shift in Perception

“The body is merely part of your experience in the physical world.” –  (ACIM, T-2.IV.3:8)

I now understand that this was a shift in my perception.

My world shifted from the world of action to the world of thought.

What does that mean?

Until now, I believed that to live was to take action.

That’s what life was all about.

The world would throw random, or not so random, situations and circumstances at me, and living meant reacting to them.

Living meant navigating through them.

third eye, perception, head, woman
When the shift happened, my understanding of the world changed.

When the shift happened, my understanding of the world changed.

I now know, that I and only I create the world that I experience through my senses with my thoughts.

I now know that the physical world is nothing but a reflection of my mind.

The thoughts that I am having are literally playing out in front of my eyes and ears in the physical form.

Scary or exciting?

BOTH, but at first, definitely terrifying.

Now I have put myself in a position where there is no one else or nothing else to blame but myself.

So, guess what, that terrible problem that I’m dealing with right now, or that unpleasant circumstance that is not letting me sleep at night; I have created them myself with my thoughts.

Once I realized that I went through a very weird period of time where I was literally afraid of my thoughts.

And what do you do with that? How do you run away from your thoughts?

You can’t.

At this point, the only choice was to consciously watch my thoughts.

I know that sounds exhausting and simply impossible.

All you have to do is just watch your thoughts and catch yourself before you react to them.

Watch your mind like you are watching the clouds passing by or the cars driving by on the highway but without judging them, without reacting to them.

Watch Your Thoughts

“The world is not left by death but by truth, and truth can be known by all those for whom the Kingdom was created, and for whom it waits.” –  (ACIM, T-3.VII.6:11)

At first, you will see that you won’t be able to go a few seconds without reacting to your thoughts.

But with practice, this becomes quite natural to do.

With practice, you will find a really quiet place in your mind where you will be able to take refuge.

Some days get so busy with my mind running a million miles an hour.

And that is ok.

But it is a wonderful tool to be able to disconnect for a few seconds or minutes and go to your quiet place and literally leave everything behind for those few moments.

This is hard to explain but it feels like I’m literally leaving the physical world behind with my racing mind and feelings, and shifting into some kind of void for a few seconds.

And often that’s all it takes to re-set.

That’s all it takes to shift from being a body to being a spirit.

Are You Ready?

“Who is the “you” who are living in this world? ⁹Spirit is immortal, and immortality is a constant state. ¹⁰It is as true now as it ever was or ever will be, because it implies no change at all. ¹¹It is not a continuum, nor is it understood by being compared to an opposite. ¹²Knowledge never involves comparisons. ¹³That is its main difference from everything else the mind can grasp.” –  (ACIM, T-4.II.11:8-13)

If you are in the stage of your life when the world stopped making sense, you are ready.

That is your spirit signaling you that you are ready for the shift, that you are ready to realize your true nature.

This is the time to shift from being a body to being a spirit.

No, this does not mean that your body will disappear and you will become Casper, the friendly ghost.

But it does mean that your understanding of your body will change.

You will not see yourself as the limited and temporal body, instead, you will see yourself as the limitless spirit that has a body.

Your body will become a tool in communication with other bodies.

This is a beautiful shift where death and suffering disappear.

Once you understand that you are not the body, the death of the body will not bother you because you will know that what you are cannot ever die.

So, when the world stops making sense to you, be not afraid instead be joyous.

It means you are ready for your next shift in understanding.

You are ready to embrace the truth of who you really are.

You are ready to transcend the physical world.

How To Make Sense Out Of This?

“The ego made the world as it perceives it, but the Holy Spirit, the reinterpreter of what the ego made, sees the world as a teaching device for bringing you home.” –  (ACIM, T-5.III.11:1)

First of all, don’t rush it.

Be ok with what is.

Have absolute, unwavering trust in the fact that what is is the best thing for you right now.

Don’t try to go beyond your current level of understanding.

You are exactly where you need to be at this point.

dream, illusions, surreal
This world is a dream for as long as we believe it’s real.

If you are confused or scared try focusing on the pretty and pleasing things in your life but do not get attached or assign any meaning to them.

They are temporary and they will not last but you have created them, the loving thoughts that manifested in the physical world as they do exist and will last forever.

As I’m looking at this gorgeous flower in my garden, the physical form of it will not last long but the essence- the thought that manifested as that beautiful flower will last forever.

If you get the sense that this is not an easy shift – you are 100% correct.

In a sense, you are giving up the physical world by realizing that it does not mean anything other than serving as a mirror of your mind.

What is in your mind, your thoughts, are presented in a physical form for your eyes to see, ears to hear, and to be experienced by the other senses.

It’s literally a dream for as long as we believe it’s real.

But then again, if the world stopped making sense to you, you are ready for this shift.

Have absolute trust in the divine timing of the universe.

“That is because it is the acknowledgment that you are not in this world, for the world is unhappy.

How else can you find joy in a joyless place except by realizing that you are not there?” – (ACIM, T-6.II.5:7–6:1)
