Has your life ever felt so dark that there was no hope for a better tomorrow?
Were you ever in a situation where you couldn’t even imagine what a better tomorrow looks like?
Well, I have.
But just as I thought things could not get any darker, one dark night I stepped outside on my porch and
found myself surrendered by sparkling stars all around me.
First I thought there was something wrong with my eyes, but then I realized what was happening.
I was visited by fireflies, and not just one or two but so many on them, close and far.
A feeling of calm and tranquility came over me as I have recognized the wonderful message of hope from within.
As I contemplated on the meaning of fireflies and the surprising encounter, a sense of hope arose from within and my world did not seem so dark anymore.
Wonderful Encounter – Perfect Timing
“It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.”– Aristotle
I am fully aware of the transformation that is taking place currently in my life.
The darkness and hopelessness is a transitional stage where all that is false and unreal is making an exit from my life.
I understand the process and I welcome it because I know what comes after it, but I obviously do not enjoy it.
So, to have been visited by the most magical creatures in such a perfect timing just confirmed that trusting life and the spiritual transformation process is the right thing to do.
I have seen fireflies before, a very long time ago.
I have lived in my house for over 10 years and have never seen any fireflies until last night.
There were so many of them. Close to me and further in the distance,
The whole experience felt surreal but so right and perfect.
What Do Fireflies Symbolize?
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us”. – Marianne Williamson
Aside from me being in awe and so grateful for the encounter, fireflies symbolize some significant things:
Fireflies are the symbol of illumination, symbolizing that the light within is the power of life.
If you come across fireflies the message that they carry is to lighten up. Remember to look inside of yourself and discover the light. Don’t get lost in life’s problems, all the answers are inside of you, you just have to allow it to be found and let is shine through you.
Fireflies carry the message of hope. You can only see the light of fireflies in the darkness. Do not resist the seeming dark moments in your life. Don’t be afraid of them, this is your chance to look into the future and allow the light to guide you. The light is a part of you so it will never abandon you. You might forget it’s there and start doubting again, but the light is always and forever inside of you.
Encountering fireflies in your life is a good omen. Fireflies look like ordinary creatures by day and at night their light and superpower of illumination comes out. It is a reminder to us that although we look ordinary, we all have a super power within us that awaits to be awaken and shared with the world.
As we often get wrapped up in the problems of the world around us, we can look to the fireflies to be reminded that for the light to shine does not require a lot of energy. It is a very simple, natural and effortless process. We can choose to truly surrender to the flow of life and illuminate our light naturally and effortlessly.
When fireflies appear in our lives they represent a message for our soul growth. They remind us to listen to our inner guidance. The more we allow the light in our lives the more harmonious and beautiful our lives will become.
Fireflies use flashes as a mating signal. What I saw that night in my backyard was male fireflies looking for females. What that teaches us is to use our light to attract people into our lives.
“There is always a light within us that is free from all sorrow and grief, no matter how much we may be experiencing suffering.” – Patanjali
Fireflies were always a subject of interest for centuries. To explain the mystical creatures, people have come up with very elaborate myths and legends.
According to the legend, fireflies were just regular flies that were not attracted to garbage and dirt, instead they preferred flying around star apple frees. One night, when they were gleefully flying around the star apple tree they have noticed the twinkling stars above. The flies thought that since they were the guardians of the trees they should be called star light. They wished upon the stars to let the become star flies. The stars listened to their pleas and allowed them to become fire flies by being give fire in their bodies. The lesson is that often when we admire someone or something we become like them.
The Japanese believed that fireflies are the souls of the recently dead people seeking their peaceful passage to the world beyond death.
The legend tells that a trickster fox tried to steal fire from a firefly village. In order to do that he fooled them and set his own tail on fire with a piece of a burning bark. As he was fleeing the firefly village, he gave the bark to a hawk. the hawk. The hawk flew away with the burning bark scattering embers around the world. That is how the Apache people got fire. As a punishment the fox was told by the fireflies that he will never be able to use fire himself.
Look For Fireflies in Your Life
“There is a light within each of us that can never be diminished or extinguished. It can only be obscured by forgetting who we are.” – Deepak Chopra
Look for the existence of fireflies in your own life.
Be reminded of the lessons they teach.
There is a light inside of you
You can choose to share it with the world, especially when the world is dark.
Follow the lights’ guidance, it will not lead you astray.
Magical messages appear in our lives when we need them the most.
Be observant, do not miss them or disregards them as unimportant or imagined.
Illuminate the light inside of you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. – Marianne Williamson
