Have you ever wondered if you could just leave the world behind and simply fly away?
Most of us have days when you feel down and depressed. Nothing in the world makes any sense. No matter what we try or how much effort we put in, it all seems hopeless. No one knows how bad we feel and there is no point in trying to explain it. Nothing is enjoyable and nothing can make you smile. You feel like you are drowning and that you don’t matter.
There seems to be no earthly solutions for fixing the way we feel.
Right there – no earthly solution – we hit the nail on the head – the key word being earthly
No, I am not talking about using drugs or other stimulants to experience the hallucinations of flying away.
So, what am I talking about it? How can we just fly away?
You will have to use your mind to learn how to fly away.
I know, that’s not what you were expecting but this is the hard truth.
If you want to learn how to fly away, the only way to do it is to learn the power of your mind and how to use it.
We live thorough our bodies, experiencing life through our senses. Our mind plays a secondary role. We think the body is in charge and it tells our minds what to do.
Oh boy, do we ever have it backwards?
Your mind creates your life, including your body and your life circumstances.
The only way to change your life is to first understand your mind and how it works and then to change it.
You don’t believe me?
Think back over the last 5 years, has your life been much the same? I’m not talking about the outer circumstances of your life, I’m talking about the over all feel of your life, the ever present mood of your life.
It has been pretty much the same, hasn’t it?
The circumstances and situations change in your life but after the initial adjustment period, it just goes back to “your normal”.
You get married, you get a new house, a new job, you name it, and it is exciting for a while but eventually it all goes back to your normal. You start feeling how you always felt.
We start thinking what is wrong with us? Why can’t we just be happy with what we have? And the search continues, you move on to the next thing to be chased.
If we are lucky, once in a while we will get a sense of how futile all of this is. We get a wish of learning how to fly away from all of this.
Yes, you can learn how to fly away and leave all of this earthly drama in the background.
And then – – this statement scares you. You realize that as much as you wish at times how you could just fly away, you do not really want to leave all of this behind. You have built this life and you do not want it all to just disappear, or at least most of it.
Don’t worry, when you learn how to fly away using your mind, you won’t have to say a teary good bye to your world, to what you have built over the years, to who you think you are.
So, what does it mean to fly away and how do you do it?
According to quantum theories, your everyday reality doesn’t exist until observed.
“The idea of an objective real world whose smallest parts exist objectively in the same sense as stones or trees exist, independently of whether or not we observe them … is impossible,” Werner Heisenberg
But don’t worry, all this means is that there is not one reality but we all perceive our own.
Is it possible that we do not see the whole reality but only the parts that we have allowed ourselves to see?
What if there is another world that we do not see because we are not aware of it yet? And what if that world is nothing that you have seen before or could even imagine? And what if that world is hidden inside of your mind?
To access that world, you will have to learn to control your mind. To be able to find the hidden inner world, you will have to learn to rule the kingdom of your mind. You will have to train your mind to stay focused instead of letting it roam freely.
“I have a kingdom I must rule. At times, it does not seem I am its king at all. It seems to triumph over me, and tell me what to think, and what to do and feel. And yet it has been given me to serve whatever purpose I perceive in it. My mind can only serve. ” – Lesson 236, ACIM
If this sounds a lot like meditation, you are not wrong.
Meditation is such a loaded word, most people have a preconceived ideas about meditation and how hard it is.
Therefore, I suggest, forget the word and focus on practicing the below steps.
- Sit comfortably in a quiet place
- Close your eyes and breath normally
- Focus your attention on the space between your eyes
- If you get distracted by a thought, gently bring your attention back to the space between your eyes
- Don’t force anything, whatever comes, let it be
15-20 minutes to begin with would be sufficient.
If you sit still without any movement, you should experience a feeling of dissociation with your body. This is a feeling of knowing that you have a body but not feel it. Sometimes it feels like you are floating in space.
WARNING: your body will not like the stillness that you are trying to achieve. The moment you sit down with the intention of being still you will get all sorts of sensations. All of a sudden you will be cold, or hot, or thirsty, or have a bad itch; try to resist it, it will go away after a while once you are able to focus your attention.
Go ahead, give it a try. A new world awaits you, hidden inside your mind.
There is another world inside of us. For the most part it is hidden because we are too preoccupied with following our untrained minds. But if you manage to control your mind, the amazing and indescribable world will be revealed to you.
How do you know when it’s working?
At first, you will start seeing some lights and patterns. After that, what kind of world you will see inside of you, well, that’s for you to find out.
“If we know the divine art of concentration, if we know the divine art of meditation, if we know the divine art of contemplation, easily and consciously we can unite the inner world and the outer world.” – Sri Chinmoy
And that’s when you learn how to fly away
When you learn how to access your inner world, you will realize that your current world will not cease to exist. But you will change by realizing that there is another world that you can experience. You don’t have to pick which one to live in. You can have them both. When the outer world gets too much for you and you wish you knew how to fly away, now you know you can. You can take a break and go visit your other world inside of you. When you come back you will be a different person, with a new perspective on your life.
Building a balanced life between both worlds will open new opportunities for you. You will see things that you have not previously seen even though they have been right there in front of your eyes.
Sometimes, life will force us to explore the inner world by making our outer world temporarily very painful and unbearable. You can read more about that here. But why wait for that? Why not go through an easy transition when you can gently explore the hidden inner world?
Happy flying everyone! Please share your thoughts or experiences below. I would love to hear from you.
