Our perception of the world is a projection that is coming from our mind. We have total control over what we perceive. Furthermore, we can change what we perceive by changing our minds. In fact, the only way to make lasting changes is to change our minds and as a result change our perception. But first, let’s examine how projection makes perception?

How Projection Makes Perception?
“All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.” ― Edgar Allan Poe
Projection makes perception.
The world we see, is what we made.
The world that we see is a witness to our state of mind.
It is the outside picture of the inward condition of our mind.
“As a man thinketh, so does he perceive”- ACIM
Perception is a result, not a cause.
To change the perception of the world, we need to change our mind about the world.
You witness the world that you choose to see.

Learn to recognize this so that you can change it.
The world you see shows you how much joy and happiness you have allowed yourself to see in you.
The power to change that, lies within you.
In every moment, we are projecting out the contents of our minds.
Those projections result in everything we experience in our lives.
Therefore, our perception of the world and everything in it, is what we have first projected out.

The Importance Of This Truth
“Projection makes perception. We look inside first, decide what kind of world we want to see and then project that world outside, making is the truth as we see it.” – Anonymous
Why is this important to understand?
If you are able to grasp this truth, your whole life could change.
So how can we use this truth to have more joy and peace in our lives?

It starts with understanding that we have two minds and in every moment we choose one or the other.
We have the mind of the ego and the mind of the spirit.
How do we know which mind we have chosen any given moment?
If you experience fear, guilt, pain, you have chosen the ego mind and you perceive the world and yourself as separated from others lacking love and wholeness.
If your experience of the world is joy, happiness and peace, you have chosen the spirit mind. You know that we are all one, complete, divine love.
How do you want to experience your world?

Perceiving The Real World
“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.” ― Carl Jung
We are not able to see the real world yet because we mainly choose the ego mind.
We imagine what the world looks like instead.
But why imagine if we can choose to see instead?
Perception selects, and makes the world you see.
It literally picks out as the mind directs it.

For what we look for we will find instead of what we prefer to overlook.
Perception is a choice, not a fact.
But so much depends on this choice.
On the voice we choose to hear (the ego’s or the spirit’s), depends our whole belief in what we are .
Our perception is a witness to that and never to reality.
Reality is changeless but our awareness of it needs to change because it is our choice.
If we listen to the voice of the ego, we will see ourselves as tiny, vulnerable and afraid.
We will believe that the world is cruel with forces far beyond our control and far more powerful than we are.
We will believe that the world we made directs our destiny. And this will become our faith.
And it is our faith that makes our reality.

Changing The Perception
“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.” ― Wayne W. Dyer
In order to change the perception of the world we must first recognize that you want it to change.

We must first recognize that we do not want this world.
We must also believe that we are strong enough to change it.
We must believe that if we are strong enough to make the world, we have the strength to also let it go and have it replaced with the real world.
This is where our freedom lies.
It awaits our choice patiently.
If we place our faith in it and listen to it, we will perceive ourselves and the world differently.
We will perceive blessings and miracles as natural.
Love, joy, and peace will be your right.

The Fear To Look Within
” A simple question yet remains, and needs an answer. 2 Do you like what you have made?–a world of murder and attack, through which you thread your timid way through constant dangers, alone and frightened, hoping at most that death will wait a little longer before it overtakes you and you disappear. 3 You made this up. 4 It is a picture of what you think you are; of how you see yourself.” – T-20.III.4
The ego does not want you to look within.
We experience this resistance as fear.
What would happen to the ego if you looked within and saw only love?
The ego cannot allow that to happen.

If you were to look inside and see the ego’s madness and insanity there would be no reason to hold on to it.
And that would be the death of the ego.
Do not be afraid to look within.
The ego tries to convince you that terrible guilt resides within you and asks you not to look.
Instead, it encourages you to look outside and see guilt there.
You can choose to listen to the ego or you can look within and find the light and perfect faith in there.
Have the courage then to look within and realize that what you feared was there has been replaced with love.
“Have you not wondered what the world is really like; how it would look through happy eyes? 2 The world you see is but a judgment on yourself. 3 It is not there at all. 4 Yet judgment lays a sentence on it, justifies it and makes it real. 5 Such is the world you see; a judgment on yourself, and made by you. 6 This sickly picture of yourself is carefully preserved by the ego, whose image it is and which it loves, and placed outside you in the world. 7 And to this world must you adjust as long as you believe this picture is outside, and has you at its mercy. 8 This world is merciless, and were it outside you, you should indeed be fearful. 9 Yet it was you who made it merciless, and now if mercilessness seems to look back at you, it can be corrected.” – ACIM T-20.III.5

The Alternative To Projection
“God created His Sons by extending His Thought, and retaining the extensions of His Thought in His Mind.” – ACIM
The alternative to projection is extension.
The ego projects while the spirit extends.
Their goals are as opposite as their results.
We can choose to project with the ego or extent with the spirit.

By recognizing this truth in others, the spirit is strengthening it in both.
Love replaces anger because inclusion is established instead of separation.
To perceive yourself and others this way, is the only way to finding happiness in this world.
As this acknowledges that we are not in this unhappy world.
How else are we able to find joy in joyless place except by realizing we are not there?
Thoughts start in the mind of the thinker. From there, they reach outward.
Because our mind is split, we can think as well as perceive.
We perceive from our minds and project it outward and as a result create the world that we see and hear.
Although the perception is unreal, we are convinced that it is real.
Listening to the spirit will inspire perception that will lead us to the truth and happiness.
The difference between the projection of the spirit and the projection of the ego is very drastic but simple.
The ego’s projections exclude and therefore deceive.
The spirit’s projections extent by recognizing self in every mind and thus perceiving them as one.
There is no conflict in the spirit’s projections because everywhere He looks he sees Himself.
“If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro’ narrow chinks of his cavern.” ― William Blake
Thank you, Anna. I feel as if the perspective on this world has been altered by reading your words and that we must change our perspectives of others to alter how we see ourselves. When I look around at those different from myself, it is easy for me to choose fear or shame because my ego-mind chooses these for myself without even realizing what is happening… That’s why after reading your post, everything becomes replaced with love instead! This website really opened up a new third eye within me, which had not previously existed – thank you so much. I have always felt like something was missing inside of me, but now, it feels complete thanks to this site.
This site Personal Transformation Zone is an excellent toolbox for the mind.
Many Thanks

Hello J W Riddell, thank you very much for your comment. I am glad you found the article and the website useful. I think we are all trying to find the feeling of fulfillment and if we allow it to come to us, the universe will send us in the right direction. But the allowing part is not always easy. Often we think we need to be in control while allowing is letting go of the control.
I am glad that you were able to find the feeling of being complete. We have everything that we need inside of us, I’m inspired by the fact that you were able to access this truth.
All the best to you and have a blessed day.
Hello again Anna, Your page is really informative and it will change people’s perceptions of those words on the site.I really like the words “we can change what we perceive by changing our minds”. It’s really amazing and helpful post. This page will help people to how to look at our life in the right way. Thank you for sharing this wonderful post.
Hi Raja, thank you for your comment. I really hope some people will be able to resonate with the article. There is so much to explore about our true nature. For the most part, we have it all wrong. It usually takes something painful to happen in our lives for us to become open and willing to explore the truth about us and how the world workd.
A wise woman once referred to a person’s character this way: “You are what you act like you are.” Want to be a good person? Act like a good person and BOOM! Done. I think this goes along perfectly with what you say about ego and spirit, perception and projection. Our egos are strong so it takes effort and practice to learn to let the spirit take the wheel and steer us to a better, happier life. Thank you for posting this great article. I hope it helps many people find a way to be happier and more successful in ways that really matter.
Hello Cynthia, thank you for your kind words. I also hope that at the very least, the article will be able to help people realize that there are different perceptions of what we assume is the same. We all live in our private worlds that are determined by our perceptions. When we are unhappy, we are usually trying to change things outside of us, where in reality, if we want to achieve lasting change, we need to change our minds first and that will allow for a different perception.
I have always heard the saying your thoughts become your words and your words becomes your character. Your article has shared some light on the topic – How Projection Makes Perception? We are quick to blame situations and circumstances and never realize the things we manifest into existance. The way to look at things and our mood will determine our future.
Hello Diana, thank you for your comment. Yes, that is exactly how it works but I also understand that sometimes it’s hard to take the responsibility for what is happening in our lives. Sometimes it’s easier to blame it on outside factors or forces. But if we continue living like that, then nothing will ever change. We need to acknowledge the part we play in creating our lives and then we can have a hope of change.
