How Projection Makes Perception?

Our perception of the world is a projection that is coming from our mind. We have total control over what we perceive. Furthermore, we can change what we perceive by changing our minds. In fact, the only way to make lasting changes is to change our minds and as a result change our perception. But first, let’s examine how projection makes perception?

How Projection Makes Perception?

“All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.” ― Edgar Allan Poe

Projection makes perception.

The world we see, is what we made.

The world that we see is a witness to our state of mind.

It is the outside picture of the inward condition of our mind.

“As a man thinketh, so does he perceive”- ACIM

Perception is a result, not a cause.

To change the perception of the world, we need to change our mind about the world.

You witness the world that you choose to see.

Learn to recognize this so that you can change it.

The world you see shows you how much joy and happiness you have allowed yourself to see in you.

The power to change that, lies within you.

In every moment, we are projecting out the contents of our minds.

Those projections result in everything we experience in our lives.

Therefore, our perception of the world and everything in it, is what we have first projected out.

The Importance Of This Truth

“Projection makes perception. We look inside first, decide what kind of world we want to see and then project that world outside, making is the truth as we see it.” – Anonymous

Why is this important to understand?

If you are able to grasp this truth, your whole life could change.

So how can we use this truth to have more joy and peace in our lives?

spirit mind
If your experience of the world is joy, happiness and peace, you have chosen the spirit mind. You know that we are all one, complete, divine love.

It starts with understanding that we have two minds and in every moment we choose one or the other.

We have the mind of the ego and the mind of the spirit.

How do we know which mind we have chosen any given moment?

If you experience fear, guilt, pain, you have chosen the ego mind and you perceive the world and yourself as separated from others lacking love and wholeness.

If your experience of the world is joy, happiness and peace, you have chosen the spirit mind. You know that we are all one, complete, divine love.

Perceiving The Real World

“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.” ― Carl  Jung

We are not able to see the real world yet because we mainly choose the ego mind.

We imagine what the world looks like instead.

But why imagine if we can choose to see instead?

Perception selects, and makes the world you see.

It literally picks out as the mind directs it.

perception
Perception is a choice, not a fact.

For what we look for we will find instead of what we prefer to overlook.

Perception is a choice, not a fact.

But so much depends on this choice.

On the voice we choose to hear (the ego’s or the spirit’s), depends our whole belief in what we are .

Our perception is a witness to that and never to reality.

Reality is changeless but our awareness of it needs to change because it is our choice.

If we listen to the voice of the ego, we will see ourselves as tiny, vulnerable and afraid.

We will believe that the world is cruel with forces far beyond our control and far more powerful than we are.

We will believe that the world we made directs our destiny. And this will become our faith.

And it is our faith that makes our reality.

Changing The Perception

“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.” ― Wayne W. Dyer

In order to change the perception of the world we must first recognize that you want it to change.

perception makes projection
There is another voice that we can listen to instead of the ego’s.

We must first recognize that we do not want this world.

We must also believe that we are strong enough to change it.

We must believe that if we are strong enough to make the world, we have the strength to also let it go and have it replaced with the real world.

This is where our freedom lies.

It awaits our choice patiently.

If we place our faith in it and listen to it, we will perceive ourselves and the world differently.

We will perceive blessings and miracles as natural.

Love, joy, and peace will be your right.

The Fear To Look Within

” A simple question yet remains, and needs an answer. 2 Do you like what you have made?–a world of murder and attack, through which you thread your timid way through constant dangers, alone and frightened, hoping at most that death will wait a little longer before it overtakes you and you disappear. 3 You made this up. 4 It is a picture of what you think you are; of how you see yourself.”T-20.III.4

The ego does not want you to look within.

We experience this resistance as fear.

What would happen to the ego if you looked within and saw only love?

The ego cannot allow that to happen.

fear, ego, perception person
The ego does not want you to look within.

If you were to look inside and see the ego’s madness and insanity there would be no reason to hold on to it.

And that would be the death of the ego.

Do not be afraid to look within.

The ego tries to convince you that terrible guilt resides within you and asks you not to look.

Instead, it encourages you to look outside and see guilt there.

You can choose to listen to the ego or you can look within and find the light and perfect faith in there.

Have the courage then to look within and realize that what you feared was there has been replaced with love.

“Have you not wondered what the world is really like; how it would look through happy eyes? 2 The world you see is but a judgment on yourself. 3 It is not there at all. 4 Yet judgment lays a sentence on it, justifies it and makes it real. 5 Such is the world you see; a judgment on yourself, and made by you. 6 This sickly picture of yourself is carefully preserved by the ego, whose image it is and which it loves, and placed outside you in the world. 7 And to this world must you adjust as long as you believe this picture is outside, and has you at its mercy. 8 This world is merciless, and were it outside you, you should indeed be fearful. 9 Yet it was you who made it merciless, and now if mercilessness seems to look back at you, it can be corrected.” – ACIM T-20.III.5

The Alternative To Projection

“God created His Sons by extending His Thought, and retaining the extensions of His Thought in His Mind.” – ACIM

The alternative to projection is extension.

The ego projects while the spirit extends.

Their goals are as opposite as their results.

We can choose to project with the ego or extent with the spirit.

perception projection
The spirit begins by perceiving us as perfect.

By recognizing this truth in others, the spirit is strengthening it in both.

Love replaces anger because inclusion is established instead of separation.

To perceive yourself and others this way, is the only way to finding happiness in this world.

As this acknowledges that we are not in this unhappy world.

How else are we able to find joy in joyless place except by realizing we are not there?

Thoughts start in the mind of the thinker. From there, they reach outward.

Because our mind is split, we can think as well as perceive.

We perceive from our minds and project it outward and as a result create the world that we see and hear.

Although the perception is unreal, we are convinced that it is real.

Listening to the spirit will inspire perception that will lead us to the truth and happiness.

The difference between the projection of the spirit and the projection of the ego is very drastic but simple.

The ego’s projections exclude and therefore deceive.

The spirit’s projections extent by recognizing self in every mind and thus perceiving them as one.

There is no conflict in the spirit’s projections because everywhere He looks he sees Himself.

“If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro’ narrow chinks of his cavern.” William Blake
