Fear, how well do we all know that feeling?
We take it for granted and not realize that we would have a different life if we were to question fear and achieve going beyond it.
Fear in spirituality plays a major role; it is the block to a new perspective, to a higher dimension.
We all imagine life without worries and fear. A life full of light, energy, and flow. We don’t always realize that life like that is possible.
It takes strength and courage to look fear directly into its eyes and use your power of focus to transcend it and go beyond it.

What Is Fear?
“Everything you want is on the other side of fear.” -Jack Canfield

The crippling feeling of fear is almost a constant companion for a lot of us. We are so used to the many faces and different intensity of fear that we do not question its existence. Instead, we all try to justify the feeling to make ourselves feel better. We say that fear keeps us safe and away from harm’s way. When it’s put that way, it doesn’t seem so bad. We feel better and we put up with it. We think that fear is necessary in our lives and we do not question the reasons for it.
Unfortunately, fear, when left unchecked, grows and intensifies very quickly.
Until there comes a point when it overtakes one’s life and it becomes unbearable. Contrary to how it feels, this is crucial deciding moment in one’s life. When the fear becomes unbearable, we are forced to pause and start looking at it, analyzing it, questioning its reasons for existence.
This is the point where the journey to a different life begins.
Most people have the awareness that we are more than meets the eye. We are more than our senses. There is something bigger and greater at play here. There is a creator that not only created us but maintains the connection with us.
There is a higher dimension that seems unreachable because fear is the veil that covers it.

Don’t Be Afraid Of Fear
“To escape fear, you have to go through it, not around.”― Richie Norton
Once people have the courage to look at fear they realize what enormous impact fear has on their lives.
At this stage, it is very common to become afraid of fear. Realizing how BIG fear is and how it literally runs your life can be very overwhelming.
When I took the time to look at my fears and realized that fear was with me all the time, I was devastated. I got afraid of the fear.
However, that is not the way!
If you become afraid of fear, fear gets bigger and you give it more power over your life.
Again, I used the power of being aware of my feelings and focusing on something other than fear. I imagined the fear as a giant veil and even thou I wasn’t always able to lift it in my mind, it gave me a great comfort knowing that it’s possible and that I will get there if I continue the work.
Fear is terrifying, not getting sucked into the down spiral of fear is a great challenge. A challenge that one will have to use great strengths and trust to overcome. But keep in mind the final goal, a beautiful life beyond fear.

Transcending Fear

Once people become aware of how fear is controlling their lives, they try to do something about it.
The first approach is usually to conquer the fear. They challenge themselves and do the things that scare them. They make a list and work tirelessly at checking off the items by completing tasks that scare them. They take the fear head on and try to win the war.
However, this is not the way to overcome fear. If you fight it head on, fear will just get bigger and bigger.
The way to diminish fear and its effects on you is to transcend it, to go beyond it.
This is not an easy task.
You do not challenge the fear, you become aware of it and surrender to it.
This is the method that I followed:
1. I become aware of fear (usually through uncomfortable feelings)
2. I search my mind and once I identify the specific fear, I used reason to talk myself out of it
3. Sometimes it’s hard to identify the specific fear (every time you do not feel at complete peace, there is fear in your mind whether you are aware of it or not)
4. I try to quiet my mind by focusing on my body and what it’s feeling (anxiety, pain, unease, etc.)
5. I try to go beyond the feelings and thoughts. In my mind, with my eyes closed I focus on the spot between my eyes.
If I’m successful and I can manage to focus even for a few seconds at a time, this practice always brings comfort and ease.
Don’t worry if you cannot do it for a long period of time. Keep trying, whenever you notice your mind has drifted, gently bring your attention back to the spot between your eyes.
Keep practicing leaving fear behind. The kind of freedom you will experience in your life will be worth every second of effort you put into the practice.

What a Great Article!
I believe That Spiritually can conquer fear.
Fear is something that we carry with us wherever we go, in our actual life we can say we have fear of getting infected with Covid19, other fears related to that can be dying, getting very sick, fear of living your little children at home.
Some people and that I include myself go through fear before taking an exam, what about the feeling of fear to start a new job.
Thanks for the tips to help us release our fear, it sounds correct to face it, instead of trying to avoid it.
Thanks for sharing this information!
Hi Ana65,
Thank you for your comment. I’m glad you enjoyed the article.
Nice post about fear. Fear can be crippling to some people. Personally I don’t like the feeling of fear. I prefer to be happy. I agree with your comments that fear can be overwhelming and can control your life. When I feel fear or anxiety coming on, I try to refocus and keep busy. Your post is very helpful for people who need to learn how to deal with their fears.
Hi Chris, thank you for your comment. I don’t think anyone likes feeling fear but sometimes it’s easier to find reasons for it and think that fear is necessary instead of dealing with it. It can be very overwhelming. I think if we spend some time exploring it, it will be worth the effort in the end.
